Hi guys, please what's the worth of a SML rev. B alto with rolled toneholes in good shape (no dents, 90% nickel(?) finish) and playing condition? It has "SML 43" stamped under the SN. Thanks..

Hello,
As far as I know, the super 43 is not exactly a Rev B, rather a transitional model with some minor differences. However, there seems to be a lot of variations within the "super" range : I've seen super 43 that look exactly like super 42s, and it's hard to know what the change is all about. In any case, the horn you describe is a relatively rare collectible horn, which has a good reputation but the market value is difficult to establish. In good condition, I'd say in the lower 1,000 range. For a pristine example, perhaps 1,500-1,800. Here in Europe, where they were made (I lived near the factory a while ago!), they rarely sell for this much. But with the Euro being so high, there's hardly a good deal to be made for American buyiers. I've seen a couple of supers in good condition sell for less than E700. I might try to grab one if I can.
Hope this helps.

helps a lot, thanks for reply,
as you said this one looks like a super 42 as pictured on saxpics. There is no "super 43" engraved on the bell where there is the classical SML logo with two 5-pointed stars. SML 43 is stamped near the serial number.

Ok, my mistake, I must have read your post too fast. What's the serial nber? And do you have a picture? That would help.
Cheers.
