Recently I bought a Big B alto for cheap, but it has no neck. My plan is to soup up this horn with black goatskin Prestinis, Noyeks (it doesn't have snaps either, as far as I know, but I'll see when it arrives), and a nice new silver skin.

Can anyone tell me what neck to use for a really big rock sound from this horn, a good match for the pads and resos? Will any 'Crat neck work?

Snap in pads would be best, Curt at Music medic has can help you here with pads and resontors. As far as neck is concerned you can get necks made by Karsten Gloger in Holland.

Mpc wise, try the Runyon Custom and or JJ mpcs, you willbe very impressed with these.

You can find a newer Selmer Buescher Aristocrat really cheap. They seem to interchange just fine between my Big B and a Selmer made Buescher alto a friend has.

That would seem to indicate that my 60s Selmer Signet neck will probably work, right?

MusicMan, hey there in Western Ky, not far from where I grew up. Nice to see a fellow Kentuckian on here.

As long as the Signet has the right hand bell keys, like the 'crats...btw, check out my post under Parts about a neck available on eBay...

Where 'bout from W. KY? Where RU now?

I recentl;y adapted a Masterpiece sterling silver neck to the Buescher used by my buddy Robbie Redding of the Ringling Brothers Circus band. Robbie finds that it really opened up the voice of the horn.

Yes, it's a 'Crat configured Signet, and a pretty decent horn. I grew up in Owensboro, but I'm currently in Belgium.

Saxgourmet, can you tell me what was required to get the MP neck to work on that Buescher? And what was the cost involved?
