I've always dug your tone on the couple of clips I heard. I've been playing Beechler HR for a few weeks and like the piece but this Metal one I got is exactly what I want. The 5 tip makes is way responsive so I can play/teach classical alto but the nasty is there if I want to do pop. Anyway , its rare that a piece makes me not want to put it down. Thanks Ed< K
yes they are wonderful pieces .I have an old 80s # 5 metal alto piece and it plays great. They are really good in a live setting. They seem to work great with mics and bands. When you get a really good reed on a bellite its heaven.the tone is anything you want. bright or dark with way more power then any morgan or meyer ive ever had.. I also like my arb metal but they play so bright live so ive been using my bellite 5 on gigs. great piece!

No, I'm actually going to break a habit of mine and keep the "last " piece. That HR gets a real nice lead alto tone and is fatter with more spread than my Metal. I ordered a Rovner Light to get more power and fatten up the high end on this Beechler Metal 5. I use a Rico 1.5 reed and probably more of a loose tenor emb but when I open up my throat and push more air I get the best alto tone I ever have. Now when I listen to Sanborn I'm noticing much more of how he phrases and uses approaches to a tone rather than ooohing over his tone. What is scary is that my horn is now so responsive (LA sax) I can easily go into fast note BS which I really want to avoid. Anyway, to answer your question, No, I'm hanging on the the HR. You really ought to try one from WW and BWs if you can. I had one of my better students make the Meyer 5 to Beechler 5 Hr switch and his ton is some much clearer and more core. He controls the pitch well also. Peace, K

Are you talking about the medium chamber HR Beechlers?

Beechler metal, for classical?!?!?! I play a Beechler for loud screaming funk and rock. Just the opposite of what I use for classical, (an old C*). In the middle, I play an old Meyer. I can't imagine using the Meyer, for classical, but it's WAY closer to a legit sound than a Beechler! A Beechler for classical?!

Got a 7 from tracker recently
Played it for 5 hrs. today on LaVoz M on Yani A990u - it smoked, lots of cut
Not thin up top at all, powerful, versatile, responsive
Thought I'd just get a bunch of squeaks, not so
Want to try it on my Buescher Big B

The Beechler HR that I have is a small chamber. Never tryed the medium or larger. As far as classical goes this beechler metal won't ever sound like the larry teal piece I used for classical in college. What this B metal does have is a very nice, sweet core to the tone that you can add edge to if you push. I find it very easy to control and I can play as dark as I want. What I like best is that I'm used to a 120 tip on my tenor so playing on a 5 alto piece feels very easy and hence more control. Anyway, your results may vary. I've heard some HRs that could peel paint and some metal pieces that are so dark and diffuse you could put a baby with an earache asleep. Bottom line is that I need "easy" these days. When I get my recording gear back to working I'll do an AB on my webpage. K
