Another Beechler Question

Is there any difference in sound between a 'vintage' beechler (diamond inlay) and the current production ones?

Can't answer myself, but I gather the true vintage ones have a black dot inside the diamond.

Some questions of my own. What's the deal with Elmo Beechler and Claude Lakey? I've seen an older Lakey alto mpc that looked like a Beechler, and a Beechler tenor mpc that looked like a Lakey? Theolder Lakey alto was loud but not as shrill as the more modern ones.
