Well, I recently received my refaced Otto Link and Bilger sopranos from Johannes.

They each sound fantastic, with the type of sound I had asked for--dark for the otto, cutting for the Bilger. Exactly right on the money.

So, what's the complaint?

Well, before I sent off these mouthpieces, I was basically going to write off playing sopranos. I only had a Yani and figured I either was no good on soporano or the Yani was no good. Now, I have to go out and buy new horns to complement my new mouthpieces.

Oh, also I can't put my soprano down now and spend lots of time with it, ignoring my family and girlfriend. That's also a problem.

I have already put a favorable review about Johannes on the alto mps section--he had already refaced a couple of altos. The guy is just amazing. His mouthpieces make so so horns sound fantastic. I can scarcely put down my USD300 Handcraft after getting my refaced alto Meyer from Johannes. He really solved a lot of my gear issues.

So, save yourself USD5K--don't get the Mark VI and get your mps refaced instead with Johannes for less than USD100 (I forget the price but it's somewhere around there and worth every penny).

Glad to hear that your experience with Johannes Gerber was great. He's been universally praised here on SOTW, and I look forward some day to experiencing one of his mouthpieces or refacing jobs myself. Which is why I was astonished to see a thread entitled "Johannes Gerber--complaints."

To the person reading your post, it's clear that your intent was humorous/ironic. However, somebody simply scanning thread titles could be left with the erroneous impression that the quality of Mr. Gerber's service was poor.

It's been said before -- humor is tricky to pull off in text messaging. So much room for misinterpretation.

I think you may have inadvertently done JG's reputation a bit of harm. Would you agree that it might be worth asking the moderator whether the thread title could be changed to something less misleading?

Moderator,

Please, change title to "Johannes Gerber, Commendations!", if possible.

Johannes, sorry for the unintended effects. You know I love your work.

Thanks!
