Are yamaha making instruments in china? And what is a yamaha allegro saxophone? I'm seeing yamaha flutes on ebay coming from china and they are really cheap, are these real ayamaha products? Yamaha were making the Q class instruments in indonesia and they are very cheap but they seem to have dissapeared. Anyone know more?

My Yamaha says made in Japan on it. Allegro is just the step-up line of instruments from Yamaha. http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/List/ModelSeriesListHE/0,,CTID%25253D244900%252526CNTYP%25253DPRODUCT,00. html

I was told last year that Yamaha was working towards getting a factory in China to to make their student and intermediate models, but I don't know if that deal was finalized or not.

Well, I got my info from a yamaha dealer in china about 4 years ago actually.
Thanjs guys, I see the allegro on the website. Ive seen quite a few flutes and clarinets and sax's from indonesia, then I didn't see any. Now I see very cheap flutes coming from a seller in china and I wonder if they are authentic or not. I might bid on one just to find out what it is marked on the back.
Hi again,
Have a look at this flute, it says made in japan but usually it has a model number under that, this doesn't. item no 230240483295.The person has plenty of feedback with a couple of flutes in there, one person was happy but stated it wasn't like the one in the picture. I guess this is a scam of sorts.

Yamaha is having student horns assembled in China. All of the parts are manufactured in Japan.
