So I just had a tooth pulled today. I'm not allowed to play for 5 days. I wasn't expecting that and it really bummed me out. I have to have 3 more out in June so I guess I'll have to work gigs around that. Any advice on what I can do for the next 5 days? I was thinking of taking all the handwritten exercises that I have done and transfer them into Finale. Any other ideas?
This made me chuckle though. On the "how to care" sheet that the doctor gave me, it says that I am not permitted to take medication with alcohol. Isn't that common knowledge?

 Might be the perfect opportunity to start doubling on flute! (Seriously, I could see why sax wouldn't be allowed but flute would be...less pressure in the mouth.)

I had six teeth pulled once. It was horrible. I couldn't play for a month, so consider yourself lucky!
With regards to the alcohol thing, it's especially a bad idea to drink alcohol after having teeth pulled (and that includes mouthwash). The alcohol will dissolve your clots, reopening the wounds.
Transcribe some stuff, go browse a music store, you know :)

You can always have a few drinks with your medication just to see what all the fuss is about. :D That'll keep you busy for at least 5 days. (Just a joke, don't even think about it!)

Don't smoke (anything, not just tobacco) either, probably for even longer than the 5 days. It dries out the membranes in the mouth and can lead to "dry socket" where it just doesn't want to heal.
