Amati-Lignatone soprano

Browsing the internet, as one does :) bumped into this Lignatone , which I understand (as someone wrote in another topic) it is an Amati from the '50 (?) . It looked pretty nice, with original , no reflectors red pads (more or less sealing), and with the exception of a horrible hook ring soldered by someone who had no idea of the expression " doing a good job", looks pretty nice and sounded alright. Anyone has any info ?

Hi, a little late I know but I happened to find this thread while searching for info on my amati, which is an alto stapmed "ideal" made in czechoslovakia and is the same model alto as the amati lignatone I see here, only in gold lacquer:

It's a nice horn with a very sweet, smooth and quite clear sound with a very delicate husk but definitely not very loud (but not stuffy either). The intonation is very accurate. I don't think it's a bigger bore. But I don't know anything :-D The action is very good too, and though you have the older style LH pinky cluster, the C# has a lever that operates the cup to make the action feel much more modern. And it has nice white rollers :-) I reckon the soprano would be a good buy. Did you get it?

I did...... and sold it straight away for what I had paid because it required a complete re-pad and it was never gonna be worth the overhaul money for it, both in terms of re-sale value or as a player. This Lignatone in your link looks very tatty, mine and others I've seen since they all look almost brand new on account of their very well made nickel plate (that in my experience is able to preserve a horn from the '30 in almost new conditions!)
