I'm getting a new sax and I have a nice sum to purchase with, I was really thinking about getting an alto guardala black nickle plate but I don't have a local music shop with one available to try out first. Could I PLEASE get some detailed information about guardala alto's.
Thanks

Hey,
I've played some Guardala altos before, so I'll try to give some helpful info...
First of all, I will say that these are the most solidly constructed instruments I've ever played. They are moderately heavy, but they just feel darn solid. They have a really great sound to them, and play with a fairly open sound. I would compare them as a cross between a Selmer and a Yamaha in terms of how they play, though their key layout seems to be the smallest I've tried. Same bore and bow size I would assume as a Yamaha.
These are great horns, and you can usually find them at a good price. They do well in classical and jazz playing, so they make a good choice. They have just a bit too much resistance for me, but I know a lot of people who like and play them.

I've owned my black nickle Guardala for serval years now, and love it. Brice B. describes it very well. The finger postions are very comfortable for players with large and small hands. They are very well constructed and have a great tone for all styles. The only problem I have had with them is the amount of spit and "gunk" that will form around your C, B, A, G, keys will show up very well on the black nickle if you don't clean it every now and then. :) They are usually priced very nicely.
