Hi.
I just received my Mouthpiece Cafe slant.
It is a .110 (new build)

So i tried it yesterday for 2 hours.
It is very nice. Easy to play.
But different to my metal Lost Wax Link Copy from Bob Ackermann.
Intonation seems good - but i have to pull it out for 1,5 cm to be in tune compared to the lost wax.
Perhapes i have to get used to a HR mpc ...

But it is not very loud compared to the Lost Wax.

Maybe i should try other reeds (Daniels in 3 at the moment).
What do you guys play on this mpc?
Regal Queens anybody?

Any help is welcome!

Kind regards
Michael

Give a little more time to it. If you are used to metal pieces you'll need some time to adapt. In a Rubber piece your mouth is more opened. It changes a bit your intonation and how you project the air stream.

What's the .110 new build?

I have the .105 Slant. Intonation is good on the Selmer I play. Position on the cork will be different on just about any piece hard rubber, resin in this case, or metal. As long as it fits tight with no leaks and doesn't move on the neck than you should be fine.

The MC slants should play loud, it's a good projecting piece for me. I'd put it on par with a metal link as far as projection. Every piece has it's own projection, but I think projection is over rated when it snuffs out the tone.

I use Rico Jazz Selects unfiled 3M on my .105

As your throat opens up because of the shape of the beak of the mouthpiece it can feel a little weird at first. It does take time to adjust. The beak on the MC slant is smaller than most HR beaks, I think it's more comfy.

Brian told me they will make them in .110 too. And they had a couple of them already and i got one of them.

I will try some different reeds today evening.

It plays very easy...from bottom to top.
