Dig- a big thanks for the vibes on Jimmy.
At one point in my life-I went every other Saturday to Jimmys pad on Andrews ave in the Bronx to study with him and Karen Borca.
I usually was there all day~ sometimes longer if we all got a -talker-on about stuff.
I miss Jimmy big time.Hes the cat who helped me get grants and helped me open my stuff.
Plus Borca....shes far in 8)
Once you listen to Jimmy....dig out Ernie Henry one of Jimmys favs.
Ya know David Murry has that alto. And he treats it like a religious thing.
I totally agree with da' Murry.
Jimmy could go thru the UNIVERSAL BOOK non stop. Perfect.
It was like his tour de force.
I think of Jimmy all the time. Ya know DIG...Frank Lowes obit was
in NY Times on Tranes birthday. :D
I know you know Lowes vibe-and I know where ever Frank is now
he was trippin' on it.
Bright Moments for Jimmy Dig. You to!!

Dig- I hear you...oh yea 8) Lately...I think about Frank Lowe everyday.
A lot of times I would spend some quality time with Lowe~listening to
music. I enjoyed Lowes trane of thought about music. He dug every tenor player he could. And-I am stone cold serious.Frank Lowe was
one of the most positive cats I ever met in my life.In addition a walking history book of all things TENOR. Lowe loved John Gilmore, Allen Eager
and everyone.Once a fews years ago, when IAJE was in NyC..I took Lowe to breakfast with me & Don Lanphere.Lowe studied everything Don did, like a little kid. Then that nite we took Lanphere to a deep night session in Harlem. The set started at 3am. Lanphere took charge in a way that many NyC players were not privy to. Guys were jumping off the bandstand like there was a shark attack.... ....Lowe was yellin like it was a WWF match. See, Lanphere had that_Lucky Thompson_ type of time. Like almost Bird on tenor.Ya know...
I can see Lowe now...jumpin in the air like a kid telling how Lanphere
set the place on fire...waving his arms like Don playing an air tenor.
Last time....I saw Lowe in good heath musta been an omen.We went to
see Von Freeman...with Barry Harris trio. Frank couldn't sit still; Von had him in the air- LOL. Frank spoke of Vons concert a lot.
After Frank passed...the Allen Eager re-issue came out...with Bird and Serge Chaloff on it.The first thing I thought of was how much Lowe woulda loved this CD.
Another thing man....when Lowe got really sick. I told Lovano about it.
Lovano sent Lowe a buncha CDs to listen to in the hospital. It was really
touching.Everyone loved Frank. ( Dr To Much :!: ) lol
Frank had a SOUND. I sure am missing him a lot these days.

Don, Lucky, Gilmore, Eager ... all my people.
Tim, thanks for everything.
Just the thoughts...
And you KNOW that Don was in the audience at those live Royal Roost dates featuring Allen & WARDELL ... not to mention Fats, Tad, and the yound Ernie Henry ... which brings us full circle to JIMMY again!
