I was looking at my tenor neck (serie II) and in front has only "80 Super Action".
How do you recognize the 3 necks?
Thank you.

The III has a different neck angle than all the other selmer necks.
I'm not sure that some of the early III necks didn't have the shield on them, but the modern III neck doesn't. Sitting the necks side by side will make it obvious what neck you have.
The only necks that are tough to tell the difference on are the Ref necks if they are both honey gold lacquered, I can't see a difference but I've been told that there is.

Series I has an engraved "Super Action 80"
Series II has an engraved "Super Action 80 Serie II"
Series III has an engraved "III" or nothing at all.
I'm not sure how you would distinguish the III from the Ref necks other than comparing the neck angles.
I would think that your neck isn't original Andy. Doesn't really matter. The Series I and II necks are one and the same. The horns don't differ much other than the front F, high F#, and the number of posts found on the low Eb/C keys.

They have different finishes, and the Ref alto necks also have 'Reference' stamped on the tenon collar.

Thanks for the info guys.
I got my horn (new) in 1989 426-xxx and it weird that I never realized until recently that the neck doesn't have the serie II engraved.
Well what can I do? nothing, it doesn' really bother me. ( yeah it does but I am working with that issue eheheh)
I see that a lot of people here have a neck III on their serie II, why is working better? is it just the different angle or there is more?
Also what should I eventually gain or lose with a serie III neck ?? (or ref.)
I know that everyone is different but I am not a sax guru and I started playing again only recently.
Thank you.
Andy.

My series 2 neck (pictured above) just says
80
Super
Action
Maybe thats not original.

Yes, come to think of it, I'm very sure that the SA80 II's necks only said 80 Super Action on them. I only have a Series II bari now, and that certainly doesn't have 'II' on the neck.
