I found this mouthpiece in an old bari case. I am not too knowledgeable about otto links so I thought I would ask here. It says "Super" Tone Master on the shank and Otto Link on the top ridge. The facing is a 5* and appears to be original. The plating is worn and the biteplate missing. Is this anything special? How much might it be worth?

I don't like links, but that one I am guessing would be in the three hundred to five hundred dollar range, depeding on the condition, I am guessing yours is worth $250 if I have watched the market correctly.

Back to the issue at hand: pictures of the size marking (the 5*) can tell a lot in terms of dating the piece.

I tried to get some pics of it but they were blurry. The five and the star are about the same size and right on the corner off the bottom right hand side of the table.

saxmanglen the piece in your pic is actually a "double ring" florida piece.
The piece in the first pic would be a florida if it had the tip opening number stamped with a small font on the side of the body(not on the shank)..
there is a previous thread with a chart on how to identify metal otto link pieces.

Okay, yeah the number is stamped in the same place as it is on the double ring tenor piece. So that makes it a florida model? I am planning to offer to buy it, and I want to know what a fair price is for the piece. I played it last night for a while and it sounds GOOD!

Here's 2 great web sites giving info on researching otto link and other mouthpieces:
the first from the theo wanne website:
http://www.theowanne.com/mouthpieces101/OttoLink.php
the second from the mouthpiece museum

From looking at those sites, I am sure it is a florida. However there is no price listed on the theo wanne site. is about $400 realistic? I couldn't find any for sale on the internet.
