Junior used a Lawton 8*B since about 1973.

Virtually ALL of the MAJOR 50's and 60's R&B honkers used Berg metal 100-130/2 mouthpieces. The only obvious ringers were Red Prysock with his Otto Link and Lee Allen with whatever was handy.

There was some experimentation and reworking involved, but most ot them knew they could count on the Berg in a pinch.

The 70's began the flood of sissy mouthpieces and crackerbarrel physics that degenerated the mouthpiece in to the same category as accupuncture, aura-reading and John Edward's wildly popular TV show, "Bending Over."

Granted, there have been many and varied improvements, but, sifting them from the vast desert sands of pseudo-science is more than a layman can hope to begin.

The inherent mechanism that causes the casual observer to correlate what he hears with what he sees, causes millions of dollars to be, literally, thrown at people who know less about mouthpeices than they do about human vanity and gullibility.

Like this doesn't happen in every other human endevor!

Once the market became filled with Berg Contenders, Berg became quite a different company, making quite a different product, further opening the doors for the pretenders!

i'm lookin at one for my king zephyr bari.
any thoughts from yo funked up haid would be appreciated.
(the seller is too far away for me to try it out first)
