I am looking to buy a new tenor and decided to stick with Jupiter. I currently have an older 787gl and would like to step up to a pro level horn. The 2089xo is Jupiter's newest but can't find any information on current users opinions...anyone playing this sax? I sure would like to hear your comments on this tenor.
Also, besides the 989gl being $100 less and gold lacquer versus the 889sg silver plate....are there any other differences?. I am assuming the 889sg is brighter? I have heard good things about the 889sg but nothing on the 989gl.
thanks

Has anyone blown into or even seen the Jupiter XO series?

I just play tested a Jupiter 2089 xo tenor at a music educator's convention today. Right before playing that saxophone I had play tested a Yamaho 62 and a Selmer 74.
I am in the market for a new tenor. I currently play on an old Pan American that I love. It is free blowing beautiful sounding horn. But with all old horns there are technical limitations. So I wanted to see what was out there.
I didn't love the Yamaha. I am a Selmer fan. I have played an S80 alto since the early 1980's. I'm used to the darker more resonant sound of the Selmer and Yamaha's, while great horns just aren't my favorite.
The Selmer 74 was a fabulous horn! It was great throughout the register except on the top couple of notes. Once in the Palm keys it felt thin and stuffy to me. That may be because I'm used to playing on a much older, lighter Pan American. And the price on a Selmer 74 is daunting.
But, then I tried the new Jupiter. It was amazing. It is less than half the price of the Selmer and played with warmth, control, and precision throughout the horn. I actually liked the feel of it better than the Selmer.
The road rep from the music store that services my high school was there while I was playing the Jupiter and I'm having him get me one of the XO's. It would be a great horn at any price but I am going to be able to pick up that horn from my rep after the convention for around $1700! You can't beat that for a horn of that quality. Even at list compared to other horns of similar quality it'd be a steal.

boaaah, is that the regular price for the XO in the US.
I paid 2300 Euro for my XO here in Germany:|

No, it normally sells for around $2100. I'm a band director and can get really good deals through the music stores that service my school. One of the perks I guess.
