Hi. I've been playing alto sax for about 6 month and I'm doing pretty well. I can play Grade 5 stuff ( I'm on Grade 3 ) if that means anything to you, and I can play stuff like Take 5 really well. I'm not trying to boast or anything, I'm just giving you the background without lying before I ask you th question. Here it is!!!

Can you recomend some good jazz books/booklets ( solos ) with music that is good! ( stuff along the lines of Take 5 is fine).

Thanks alot for your time.

Try www.sheetmusicplus.com. Specify your instrument and scan through the selections. I have found some good stuff here. Some come with a cd.

yana-you might enjoy Vol. 54 ("Maiden Voyage") of the Jamey Aebersold play-along series.

I'd have to say my all-time favorite folio book is the Paul Desmond collection. In addition to Take Five, its got a few of my favorites like Bossa Antigua, Samba Cantina. Careful tho, this book has some very tricky Desmond solos.

Get the Parker Omnibook, a bunch of Parker recordings, and Transcribe!

Play along with Parker, and use transcribe when you need to slow down some parts.
