Got a new video software. Since I had some time now, fooling around with it, i made a little video.
I took pictures of my Selmer Cigar Cutter alto and a soundfile I had recorded a while ago with this sax.
I think it turned out pretty good.

Wow, with the way you're playing and subtoning, I'd swear that the sax was a tenor. Very cool, and nice looking saxophone too.

Yeah I thought it was a tenor at first too.

Some players can pull this off I guess. Odd thing is that Desmond's entire tonal concept was like a constant subtone, yet he is obviously playing an alto. On the other hand listen to any live version of Cannonball Adderly playing "Work Song". There is no subtoning whatsoever and it sounds like his alto is a tenor.
I know that the alto and tenor ranges are pretty close to each other, but in most cases the alto has that piercing "cut" in its tone that seperates it from even the brightest tenor tones. I suppose there are some players/setups that can get rid of this "cut". I'm always impressed when a saxophonist can pull this type of alto tone off. Once again kudos!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Well, i guess it is because of the Zinner Adjustone mouthpiece. It can make the sound of the horn real different. It make it sound real dark and mellow and on the other hand real sharp and funky.
It gives such a variety to the saxophone. I simply love the horn/mouthpiece combination. Opens you every door.

That's a beautiful sound. I have never heard of the Zinner mpc...can you provide a link to their website? OK, I found it here (http://www.hans-zinner.de/html/home_englisch.html).
Are there any US dealers?

Zinner is an old German mouthpiece manufacturere. All their mouthpieces are handmade. The they bought the patent from Strathmann who used to produce the Strathon mouthpiece.
It is produced now by Zinner. Not shure when they bought the patent, but it is a long while ago.
Klaus Doldinger playes e.g. a Strathon Adjustone, but I think he playes one of the originals.
If you cannot buy it in the States and you are interested in one, let me know, I could get it for you over here.
I think saxplus has some used ones. They are probably cheaper than buy a new one over here.

Mo - thanks very much for your response. I'll check out saxplus and see. Again, you playing was enjoyable.
