thanks, k

BAM is very nice, but pricy.

thanks! i'll watch that one.
as a non-bassoonist it's really hard to tell what is good and what isn't. some of these cases run about $500! is it important to get a hard case?
what do you think of these two:

i appreciate your help,

Unless you want your (or their) bassoon damaged, it is. It would be better for you to stick to brand name cases like BAM and protec, because they have an established reputation for selling durable cases.

A friend of mine keeps her Heckel in one of these. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Bassoon-Gigbag_W0QQitemZ260198290326QQihZ016QQcategoryZ162 27QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

thanks! now i'm watching a few on ebay, including the one your friend uses. also, for the same 100-150 range i can get a protec case new. i think he was hoping for a hard case, but the BAM one is around 400 and way out of my range. i'm still looking.

Look for a Marcus-Bonna case. Totally excellent, and worth it.
