A forum member asked a question over PM about SOTW/Amazon buying:

Thanks a lot, <i>xxx</i>:

For books I might be getting up to 7% if the monthly goals are made. Last month my Amazon referral fees exceeded $100 (XMAS SHOPPING SEASON?)
So, every purchase counts.
Should I advertise this more frequently?

best regards,
- Harri

No problem.

To be honest, I just never pulled down the "Support SOTW" tab so I never new it was there.

I shop on Amazon from time to time, and since certain items I'm interested in are linked back here, it wouldn't be a bad idea to mention it every once and a while. You may be missing out out purchases simply because people are ignorant of the link (like I was).

Thanks again,
<i>xxx</i>
Anytime you want to go to Amazon.com click here (http://www.saxontheweb.net/Store/Books.html).

You can even buy an Amazon Kindle if you know what it is.

And stick it on my music stand so I never have to worry about page turns again? ;-)

(Seriously, does the Kindle display scores I wonder?)

Thanks, Harri. I'd forgotten about this.

All joking aside - the Kindle can view JPGs and PNGs, so it could hold some music...

Digressing from the original thread title. However, talking of displaying music sheets...

Dear Harri,

Our company just started an affiliate program for MusicReader, innovative software for displaying sheet music on Tablet PCs, laptops or other computers. We would like to have Sax On The Web in our affiliate program and wanted to know if you are perhaps interested in participating. Your website fits perfectly in our profile because the saxophone is an instrument that can have major benefits from MusicReader. It’s therefore likely that the visitors of your site are interested in MusicReader.

MusicReader runs on all Windows XP and Vista laptops and desktops, but is especially designed for the use of pen and touch screens, such as on Tablet PCs. MusicReader also offers a variety of hardware options to make the use of the software more convenient. MusicReader contains scan and virtual printer functionality so both digital and paper music can be converted to our digital file format. For more information about MusicReader check our website at http://www.musicreader.net . On this site you can also download a beta version for evaluation.

Has anyone got any experience of MusicReader SW (http://www.musicreader.net/)?

Looks like an interesting product.

Here is a review from a user of MusicReader (http://www.crumhorn-labs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3324). There is by the way a free evaluation version available for download.

Harri, are ALL Amazon books included in this referral program, or is it only the sax and music books that show up when we use the link?

I spend a good amount of money on Amazon, but generally not on sax books. I'd be happy to use the link if you get referral $ for all books (non-sax).

As a matter of fact, it would. You would have to send the image to Amazon and they transfer it to their special format (for free) which you can upload via usb or through your amazon kindle address (@kindle.com). But that costs 10 cents. It does not handle any other format besides that. Although it is in grayscale format because of Kindle's e-ink paper technology, the pictures would be clear as if you were reading a regular book. (And if you happen to be on stage, there would be no glare.)
