I'll hopefully be buying my own bari soon (yay!) and am trying to figure out what kind of neckstrap to get. I played in high school and always found that the standard padded neckstraps put some kind of weird pressure on a vein in my neck and essentially cut off blood supply to my left arm. Unpadded neckstraps are just out of the question b/c they cause the same problem but also are generally uncomfortable due to the relatively high weight of a bari sax. My question is, what kind of strap would you guys recommend? I've tried a harness, but being a female, it makes me rather self-conscious (emphasizing certain physical attributes when I'd rather people focus on my playing!). Any opinions you guys can offer would really be appreciated.

You might try a sling-style strap (goes over one shoulder) instead of a harness - it might still make you a little self-conscious, but definitely much less than a harness will...

Do a search for "spinstrap" to get more info... there are other makes, but I like (and use) the spinstrap.
