I recently purchased a black nickel finish borgani curved soprano,
serial number 0102. It was ebay lot 140189958798. I didn't pay
all that much for it, so I decided I'd figure out exactly what it
was when I got it, which was today. It looks a lot like their
current production curved sopranos, with large pearls, the
same style of octave, and the characteristic stylized "B" in
a rectangle on the horn and the leather case. The main differences
I can see are that it has a lyre on the bell, and there are locknuts
on some of the rods (which the older Ponzol Borgani tenors had).
Then there is the black nickel finish, which I've not seen on
other Borganis. It needs a new neck cork, so I couldn't
play it much before the cork deteriorated to unusable.
Otherwise the horn looks dead mint - no sign of wear anywhere
on it. All the pads look fresh. Even the cork looks hardly used, but it cam unglued from
the neck. The seller mostly sells bike parts and guitar amplifiers.
He thinks the horn is 5 yrs old.

Any info on this horn -- its model and who sold it -- would
be much appreciated.

It's likely a Ponzol Borgani or prior. I had a black nickel tenor some time ago. Older than 5 years. Mid 90's I believe. It would have "J" in the serial number for it to be a current Jubilie model.

Thanks, Tjon. Did your Ponzol tenor have the rectangular logo that
all Borganis now all have.

There is one other clue: -- the red silk sack for the horn has
a logo: Brasswind above Woodwind below, with a treble cleff
in between. It is not a Borgani logo (they don't make brass),
but presumably belongs to the dealer that sold it. Does anyone
recognize this logo?

Thanks

I don't remember about the logo/engraving. I'd have to look back on photos I have archived. I sold the horn to another SOTW member. Maybe he can answer your question.
