I've played alto sax for several years, but haven't touched it in about a year. I'd like to pick it up again, and I'm looking for a play-along smooth jazz music for alto sax. I like Dave Koz and David Sandborn music. Where can I find this kind of material? Do you have any other suggestions for smooth jazz artists that have CD/music combos?

There is a book with about 8 or 10 standards (Birdland, Misty, Summertime, etc.), along with CD accompaniment called "Take the Lead". I highly recommend it.

I believe there is a David Sanborn play along cd/book on the Jamey Aebersold line. I think I saw it when I was picking up some other Aebersold books. Go to www.jazzbooks.com and they will tell you there.

I think www.jazzbooks.com is a great place to go. You should try some Jamey Aebersold books, I think they are the most effective in practicing improv and getting use to play with other people.
