Hey,

I was wondering, does anyone know where I can get a Limited Edition New York Meyer mouthpiece for the alto saxophone? I would like a new one. Please give me a TRUSTABLE website with a good name or a good dealer. The 'Limited Edition New York Meyer mouthpiece' is NOT the vintage New York Brothers Meyer Mouthpiece, plz dont confuse them. I REALLY want a Limited Edition New York Meyer mouthpiece for the alto sax. :D

Also, I was wondering, is the regular Jody Jazz mouthpiece for the alto sax any good? :?:

Saxophones.co.uk is still advertising a New York Ltd Meyer for sale. They are very expensive, I got one on ebay a couple of years back for less than half the new price that was new and sealed in its box. I used it for quite a while, but found I preferred a Vandoren, so I sold the Meyer. Vandorens are great quality and there is a huge range of facings and chamber sizes.

The Jody Jazz alto pieces are very good, clear, clean and bright. My experience is that the alto facings were a lot more open for a given number than the other sizes, I use a no 5 and would say it is similar or maybe a touch more open to a Meyer 6. Jodys are a no risk purchase as he will refund in full if you don't like it.

I bought my 6M LE on eBay, new in the box for about $135. When I first played it, I thought the hype was bigger than the performance. THEN, I sent it to Jon Van Wie. Wow, what a difference! I'd gladly buy another and send it to him for refacing. It's my fave HR alto piece.

Singlereed, Thanks for the nice words about the mpc but usually I recommend the opposite of what you said. If a player plays a Meyer 5 they will often end up with a JodyJazz 6 or even a 7 on alto.

the jody jazz mpcs are nice for a clear, bright, alto sound. The sound is fairly versatile especially with the spoiler option. The Meyer will give you a nice traditional sound, but are not as nicely finished.

The LE meyers are a lot more hype than truth. They ARE better finished and more consistent, and they do sound better, and the rubber is a little different. But, for the price, you can send a regular meyer to JVW and still have change left. They are nice if you can find them cheap though.
