1/2 of horn off nearly whole note?

1st off.. i know nothing...

here is the report i got back from our band instructer on a Noblet Bb bari we just purchased s/n 107XX. this was rebuilt by a VERY VERY good local insturment restorer w/new pads and a few new or custom made parts..

this is what my daughter told me the band director told her

using an electonic meter: low notes were off nearly a whole note. even with the mouth piece pushed in all the way... BUT high notes were perfictly on.. ( i can't figure out how this can be )

my daughter was late for lunch, so she could not ask any more questions

for the rest of this week, i guess she will play one octive higher

Possibly the low keys are not high up enough (from the tone holes)?
It's probably your daughter not being used to the instrument yet, though, if done by a good mech. Let a known saxophonist play it a little and see if he has the same problem.

The problem is that it is a Noblet.

Perhaps she is dropping jaw too much when playing lower? She needs to have her teacher play it to see if it is the horn or her.

You didn't mention what kind of mpc you are using - but if the chamber is too small for the horn it can drive the upper register sharp - and by pulling out on the mpc - you inadvertantly make the lower register flat.
Check it out - try a few different ones.
And make sure your daughter isn't biting down (like someone else said).

found out the assistant had replaced the neck and not tested the tone.

shop owner will pickup the instrument at our daughter's school, fix it over the next couple of days and return it to us Saturday or Sunday.
