Hallo everibody. Like object.:D I like to buy a Grassi and a man say that his sax is "Grassi Professional". I like to know if this is a Pro 2000 or an older model.
I don't want to ask this to him because the prize is very good and if i say that this sax, the 2000 model, is very good the prize go up!!!;) :D
Thank you!

It's hard to know without some more specifics. What color are the rollers? Does it have a high F# key? Is it an alto, tenor, soprano, or baritone? Does it say "Grassi Professional" on the back near the patent number?
If you could get a picture or even a serial number it would be helpful.

I think that is different the ring on the bell from another photo of Pro 2000.
In this sax there is a flower (?) paint on the bell.

That's a "Standard" model. Not a bad horn, but not as good as the Jade or the 2000 models. They are good student horns, but don't pay too much for them.

Just for comparison purposes, I spent approx $750 for my Pro 2000 tenor, including shipping from Italy

I don't believe that is correct. The ones marked "Model 2000' have a high F# (usually) and they have earlier serial numbers than the ones marked "Professional 2000". I think it was an option.

To confuse matters further, I seem to remember discussing this with "A Train" and I am almost sure that my Professional 2000 has an earlier serial number than his Model 2000.

I'm going to own his Model 2000 soon, so we can compare...
Anyway, they produced the Model 2000/Professional 2000 horns for a lot longer than people realize. My soprano was purchased new in 1990; I have the original receipt. Someone here said that they only produced them for a few years, but Grassi closed their doors in 2003, and mine was built 13 years prior.

Yep, it's true J.Max now owns that horn. I agree that is a great Grassi model and I know a couple guys here locally that play and love them but it was just sitting with me-I have many horns, can't play them all-and I felt it deserved to be with a player.
