I have question about DG. Do they have their own factories? Or is DG
manufactured from one of the B&S company or some other factory?. I hear a lot of rumors, but I can't tell if they are true~~ Can somebody help me out?
thanks

Guardala's were made by The VML owned B&S company, and were based on their now defunct (Replaced by the 2006 Medusa) 2001 pro model with some small modifications. Rumour has it that Guardala's will be manufactured again, but so far, I haven't seen any info confirming that.
LA sax is marketing the "Chicago Series" horns, that are B&S manufactured and apparently based on the Medusa. They should be great horns.
Hope this Helps.

We just got a line on some Guardala tenors.

The 500-BN (Black Nickel) is $2500.

The 501-CL (higher copper content) clear alquer, silver plated keywork is also $2500.

Both of these horns are brand new in an SKB case.

We also have 1 "New York" alto and a couple of baris available.

E-mail or call us for more information.

As for the Chicago Jazz Series Horns(made by B&S), I can say that they play VERY well. Both myself and one of my cohorts in a big band felt that this horn pointed out to us that we had to work on how precise we were with fingering. It responded more quickly than our current horns. (he has a YTS-875, I have a Superba1 and a SerieIII SP) All in all I loved the earthtone tenor and alto, but couldn't come up with the cash to buy it and I also still love the sound of my old Couf. If you're looking for a new ax I would definately give one of these a blow.

I'm still loving my DG 500L tenor. Nice rich complex sound with a WONDERFUL low end. Also has a nice set of 'huevos' when pushed

Well, the last thing that I need is another horn, so of course I bought one of the black nickel Guardala baris from Miles Ahead. Can't wait for it to get here!

Got my black nickel Guardala bari today. Gotta give Miles Ahead props for the expedited shipping. Sent it out yesterday, and it got here this morning.

Really beautiful horn. Lots of lovely engraving on that tall bell. The silverplated keys, rods, guards, etc. is a nice touch. I was surprised how much smaller the key layout is than my Keilwerth stuff. Man, I had just gotten used to the JK spread, now I've got to get the feel for normal key placement again.

I had ordered a metal Berg 100/2, which happened to come today also. Intonation is very even up and down the horn. Well, down to low C anyway. Below that I can't tell, because the bell keys are WAY out of adjustment. Nothing from C# down closes all the way, so I can't really test the low end yet. And, let's face it, if you aren't gonna use those notes you might as well play tenor. :-)

I'll post pictures later after I noodle some more.
