Try them...I personally am a Selmer man, but many like Keilwerth...you've just gotta try them for yourself and see which you like more.

Andrew hits the nail on the head, but GENERALLY speaking, if you're a classical/legit player, Selmers are more likley to have the sound most often sought for your genre. JKs are not among the most likely candidates for achieving the sort of classical sound that most players seem to seek, nor are they easiest to blend into a section, be it for big band or concert band. There are JK players (including me) who use their JKs for solo classical and section work, but the concensus seems to be that Selmers, Yanis, Yamahas, etc. can do both more easily.

If you want maximum power, volume, and projection-go with the SX90.
They're also versatile enough to play low volume gigs.
Still, try both if possible. The Selmer ser.III is a great horn too.
I have both. I play both. Pick the horn that feels best in your hands then adjust your sound by changing mouthpiece, lig, or reed. All of the horns you've mentioned, here and in the yana thread, are good (although my personal favorite is the T991- which I play most).
I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as the horn is well adjusted and it "fits" you. The sound will come.
Good luck

john, you have both what? This thread is about KW and selmer. The yani comment is confusing.
As for picking a mouthpiece to suit your needs, yes that will work up to a point, but there's is no way to get the power of a KW out of a selmer. I don't care what setup you use. It just ain't gonna happen.

A "jazz tone" is a very vague description. Just compare Stan Getz to Sonny Rollins - two completely different sound concepts, both playing jazz (and Selmers BTW). My personal preference is the Keilwerth, I prefer its full and room filling sound over the more compact sound of the Selmers. But this is just the tendency if you compare the two instruments side by side, the sound depends much more on the player and the personal sound concept. Chose for yourself, but try both before you buy.
Kosma, Sorry I wasn't clear. I mean JK and Semer by both (although I have 9 tenors including JK, Selmer, and Yana so I play them all regularly).
Just trying to encourage kyhi to try what's available.
I also offer my apologies to others if I confused folks.

ROTFLMAO... You're kidding, right? You need to add the smiley-winkie emoticons after a statement like that.
