Serial Number is N174XXX :?

The pictures aren't very good. Not much engraving.

Can anyone help me ID this by the serial number? Thanks!

Doubtful with the letter "N" before the serial number. Only if it was an "M" would it be a Chu. If the N is correct, it could be a dreaded Mexi-Conn, but I'm sure there are others more familiar with this ilk than I am.

oh, sorry, i thought it was an M,
grumps you are right, if it is indeed an N then it is a mexiconn, but i thought all mexiconns had the shooting stars engraving?

mom2saxy, are you sure you haven't misread the letter?
are the bell keys on the left, or split, one on the left, one on the right?

heh, Mexiconn! It is definitely an "N" not "M". Guess I'll pass on this one!

Oh come on, enough with the Mexiconn bashing BS now, us Mexiconn owners are sick of you Selmer snobs and the 'my vintage sax is better than yours' balderdash. Vintage just means any old item that some fool has paid over the odds for, just because someone called it 'vintage' rather than 'old' and trying to convince themselves parting with the readies was worth it.
