UMI has stated that the neck from the new 34M will work on the 10M horn. A neck from a 16M will work as well. I am using the 16M neck now with good results. the neck from my '35 Buesher tenor works fine on the 10M also. Those are the low priced options. From there it gets expensive. Finally, Bob Ackerman has some 10M necks for $150.00

Let us know what you come up with.......

You are lucky that it fit. Conns were all hand made, hand fitted. You would be extremely lucky if you could get any key to fit between the same posts on the same model conn. I held up the tennon of my C mel neck to that of my teachers, and mine was noticeably bigger, it was about half way out the thickness of the tennon, same model. I also played his C mel, the right palm keys were not in the same place as mine, it made it a little bit weird to play, held up side by side there wasnt a noticeable difference, but boy I sure could feel it. I would have someone make you a neck, send him your horn then you will get a perfect fitting neck, possibly for cheaper. Sometimes a neck will cost as much as an entire horn!!!! That is why you will occaisonally see a B after a serial number, they were all hand done, I am told that the B means that they screwed up and accidentally stamped 2 of the same serial number.

Karsten Gloger made a neck for my 26M. Plays great, costs approx $700 U.S.

There is a difference between the 16M neck and the Buescher 1935 neck on the 10M horn body. The B'sher neck is made of heavier metal and has a slightly smoother sound. It's not a major difference and could only be discovered by comparing the two necks side by side. The Ackerman neck came from UMI so it's probably very similar to the 16M necks. I would see how much the new 34M necks cost from a UMI/Conn dealer.
