I would like to know beside the material, any difference between SC-902 & 901? I assume SC-902 sounds more warm, rich & dark because of bronze.

Also, which year SC-902 came to the market?

Tears: I have both and the tone difference is subtle . . . the SC902 being slightly darker and warm. But, only the player will hear it, in MY opinion. Both play excptionally well - even response and good intonation throughout the range.

Don't know the year of introduction, but both of mine were new within the last three years. DAVE

Dave, did you hear that all the molds for the new SC991 sopranos were destroyed in the factory fire? Man, I was all jazzed to get my hands on a curved 992 model. I assume they'll be making a bronze version.

Morry: I recall some comment about a factory fire, but nothing specific. I don't know what to think of a new SC991/2, but it would have to be amazing for me to pony up the dough. My SC901 and 2 are wonderful sopranos, as is my S992. Except for changing the design of the left-pinky table (which is a non-issue for me) on the curved models, what more could they do to improve an already great horn? In comparing my S992 and the SC902, the only differences are the curve (of course) and the pinky-table. Other than that, same ribs, same posts, same everything else.

If you're really hot-'n'-bothered about a curved Yana sop, I'd say go for an SC902 and never look back. DAVE

I think that's what I'll end up doing. The little Taiwanese curved soprano I bought has the "old" style pinky table, and it doesn't bother me at all. I would imaging I'll have an SC902 by Christmas.

In regard to the fire at LeBlanc, according to their website only the French Clarinet's manufacturing was affected. It mentioned nothing about the saxophone lines.

Your right, both of you. Leblanc only said on the site about the clarinets but I talked to a store called kessler music in Nevada, who said that the SC bell mold was damaged, so they are guessing the time to still be pushed back. I'm also a big Yani Fan I have a T991 and an A992 and I want a Solid SIlver Curved New Soprano but I might Just get bronze, and if It takes too long I'll get a 902. They aren't bad, I just wanted to get the little features that will be on the 991. It prolly wont be much but I know if you aren't totally happy with a horn and you buy it, you'll regret it.

But I'm tempted to get a 902 becuase they are so great.

I was told by a retailer in Europe that the fire destroyed the SC991 molds, but who knows?
