I would like to know if there's a difference in sound by its tip openings.

For example what's the difference between JJ HR #5 and JJ HR #6?


Is it brighter? darker? or just the same???

try playing them with different reeds and you can decide for yourself... I play on a 6 with V16 3.5s... I get a warm and dark sound... but, my MKVI probably has something to do with that as well...

Go for the 6M it's " just right" great piece. Jody himself told me to go for that and not the 5 and he was right.

I have a JJ HR* 6...It's great, good flexibility since it is a higher tip opening than the 5 and has free blowing edgy higher keys, very nice smooth mid notes
