I have played on many mouthpieces and i think my favorite on my tenor sax would haft to be a Berg 130/0 SMS because i get a tremendous sound out of it and the altissimos are just fantastic and are not easy to play but they just sound great and with that mouthpiece. I use vandoren number 3 bass clarinet reeds ( try it you will not regret the sound you get).

My favorite mouthpiece is the Morgan Jazz 9M .110" on tenor, hard rubber, with Java 3.5 reeds.
This set-up is killer!!
Jazz, Rock, Be-bop, Blues, Fusion, Latin... whatever.
It just blows away anything else i've used in the last 35 years!!!
Good Luck!
My favorite is my alto piece. Meyer 8M small chamber honed to perfection by the late Jon Van Wie. Also very fond of my hard rubber RIA 10* bari piece.

Well, my favorite alto piece is new to me (today), a Otto Link Slant Sig 6* and my favorite tenor piece is my beloved Otto Link STM NY 7.

I keep coming back to my Mojo-refaced Wagner HR on tenor. I've cheated on her many times, but she's good to me. The temporary thrill of another piece wanes, but the Wagner's sound, I think, is what I hear in my head just before I play.

Tenor: old Tonemaster, opened to 7: wonderful piece, easy attack, fat low end and consisten sound over the whole range (Ref. 54)
Alto: Lebayle Jazz 6*, ebony wood: easy to play, good intonation, consisten sound over the whole range (SX90R).

My favorite sax piece(s) are Lawtons
7*BB Icon for tenor-7*B gold plate for Alto-6*BB Stainless on Bari and 9B stainless on Soprano. All play with same feeling/allow horn changes without having to "readjust"-- easy blowing with open and full/bright tone. Intonation is accurate over entire range-altissismo is easy when needed. I use Bari* soft or med reeds on all.
On clarinet I use the John Pierce -sold by WWBW

For whatever reason a Morgan 6C fits my chops and tonal conception like a glove! The 6C is a custom made facing that can be special ordered. Ralph Morgan made a 6C soprano piece for me around 4 years ago and I was totally blown away by it. Just recently I asked him to make one for tenor and I was equally impressed with it. It feels like it's MY mouthpiece. There is a special magic about this mouthpiece that I have not been able to figure out by studying it. The chamber is larger than a Morgan L or EL and it gives me a fatter and darker sound than with those pieces. Yet, it has plenty of power and projection. For me, this piece has the perfect balance between control and power....and rich, vibrant sound.
PS, I've tried bass clarinet reeds on tenor in the past. VD bass clarinet reeds have a different profile from a comparable VD Traditional tenor reed. The tenor reed has a thicker cut. Personally, I prefer a thick reed cut on tenor and clarinet. I've found that it gives me a stronger and richer tonal core. Personal preference I guess.

I'm interested in the mouthpiece measuring kit...
i wonder if he still makes those?
Good Luck!

A Morgan Clarinet 6J piece that really tears it up for dixie, with Blue Box Vandoren 3.5.

I know junkdude's website said he can no longer stock them. Best bet would be to call ralph. He lives around 45 minutes from me...one day I want to drive up and visit his workshop. But out of the 5-6 morgan pieces I've played, I've never disliked one, so I'd probably end up bringing too many pieces home!

^^^Do yourself a favor and try one. That day I must have tried around 25-30 pieces and nothing came close to the morgans. I can't say I've ever tried a lamberson piece though. The morgan is doing everything for me though. I want one for my clarinet too.

Morgan 6C for soprano :). I do use a Morgan Medium chamber 7 that I got from Dave Hoskins on a '47 Conn 6M. It is marked "LA Sax" and "By Morgan". I am led to believe they were hand made by Ralph Morgan for the LA Sax company.

I've played the same modern metal Otto Link 8* for ten years now.
I really like it. I can play dark warm and jazzy or I can get edgy
and funkalicious. I find it does everything I want it to.
Periodically I do get a little bored with it and feel like a change, but then
I just procrastinate and just keep playing till I am happy with it again.

The one that works! That is what matters most.
To get there, my view is that it is worth going for something that is reliable from the outset. My signature below tells the story; mostly hand-made .... but quality all the way.

My favorite mouthpiece is a rico metalite m7 for alto. I currently got lucky and found a metalite m7 for tenor that I'm waiting to receive for Greece!!! I never had a alto piece that I could play so soft and so loud. Its definately has changed my saxophone life.

My favorite as of now is my Beechler Diamond Inlay M7S, which gives me brightness, edge and body. Altissimo are so easy with this mouthpiece. Bottoms are huge and highs are not thin at all. Gives me versatility and flexibility.
But, I just got a Berg larsen 90-1SMS, which is a tad brighter and edgier than my Beechler. If i can just get use to it, it will be a different story.

Current favorites are my Mojobari modified Guardala Studio for tenor. On alto I've stuck with my RPC 80B. Those two cover the type of music I play.

I have been looking for a mouthpiece that would give a similar grade of performance to the vintage Meyers. Little did I know I would be able to get one that was actually better!
The Phil-Tone Custom Meyer has been the only mouthpiece in all my testings that has beaten the vintage ones. As a direct result of this, my GAS has permanently stopped. :)

Woohoo, thread is back after 2 years of being in the grave. I didn't answer then, but the answer will be the same.
JVW Soloist for alto. I'm not sure how he did it, but it's got edge and balls!
Early RPC with the attached metal power ring for Tenor. I'm not sure if the power ring actually does anything, but the RPC label pretty much says it all (looks like this, but for tenor https://www.saxquest.com/popPhotoViewer.asp?ProdCode=RPCBari912&AtImage=2&productname=Early+90%27s+RPC+Bari+Sax+Mouthpiece+w %2F+Metal+%22Power+Ring%22&PhotoNum=6&view=all)
Pillinger Soloist for soprano. It still sounds like a soprano, unfortunately... but atleast it's still more bearable than anything else I've used.

Its like to ask what is your Favorite sort of woman-man to fall in love with , the choice is so personal , most of the time - or better say all the time - the best choice for one is not good enough or not good at all - for the others .
Once I did find somewhere in the WEB that ebonit Otto Link is the most popular MP on earth - may be , may be not,
