This is spooky. I posted this last week and the whole post seems to have disappeared into the ether.
I'm interested in buying the compact Saxxy stand by K & M when it becomes available in November. I've never used the alto one which has been around for a bit. It's very compact and fits into the bell of the sax. Has anyone any experience of this item and would like to recommend it .......or not.

I think you're talking about the one I just saw last week at a local shop. It looks like it's made out of chopsticks and a rubber band? If that's the one, I'd be hard pressed to trust my horn on it.

I have a 'saxxy' stand. I find that it is very stable compare with the regular saxophone stands. You should try it out first. They have 2 fits. One specifically for yamaha altos and a general one. Strange. Thot that they should have one specifically for selmers instead.
It is really compact too. Folds up to be able to fit in the bell of your alto. Don't forget to put in a the velvet bag first.
Wish there was one for tenor. Anybody know of any sax stand for tenor that can fit into the bell for storage/transportation?

Wish there was one for tenor.
I e-mailed the manufacturers about a tenor version and they said there would be one available in November.

Cool! Will definitely get the tenor one too, if it is as good as the alto.

I saw Phil Woods last night. He was using one.

I think that the Saxy stands are great. I saw the alto stand at NAMM this summer and bought it on the spot. I have them on order and will be selling them on my website any day now, as soon as they arrive from Germany. I also love the in the bell soprano, clarinet and flute. Just email me for info if you're interested in buying them or finding out more about them.

I'll probably be selling them before I get them programmed on the website.

Jody,
What's the difference between the Yamaha model and the non-Yamaha model?

I've just sent an email to a Rep to find out the difference. I'll let you know as soon as I know. I just received the Clarinet Stands from K & M today. It fits in the bell in the case. I love it.

Here is the official word from a K&M representative:
<<K&M has created the two models of Saxxy because the Yamaha saxophones
are a little bit different.
The difference are the key bows, which are different between Yamaha
models and other models. >>

I emailed K&M also, and got the same response. The only thing that concerns me is that, from what I can tell, even the Yamaha's differ from model to model.
I've seen them both side by side, and the difference is very subtle (it took us about ten minutes of staring at them to find it). There are two small nubs for the bow to rest against. On the Yamaha model, one of these is about half as long as the other. I assume this is to avoid collision with the bell key guard or maybe even the low C# key (we didn't have a Yamaha handy to try out). That's the only difference, but it was important enough for them to make a different model...

I wonder if the Yamaha model is only necessary for the models with the single bell keys key-guard. (YAS-61,52,23 etc.)

Got my "Saxxy" for tenor today. My beloved M VI sits very secure. Even better than my coventional old stand. Seems very stable and folds very small.
