A friend of mine and well-known saxophonist, Jay Easton (http://www.jayeaston.com/), has written a new book called 'Writing For Saxophones, a guide to the tonal palette of the saxophone family for Composers, Arrangers and Performers (http://www.baxtermusicpublishing.com/)'.

In addition to writing a rich history of the saxophone, complete with footnotes, there are disussions of arranging for saxophones complete with a CD of over 90 tracks covering samples of all known saxophones.

My copy arrived yesterday and I'm already halfway throught it as it is a very interesting and educational read.

Cheers.

Gandalfe,

Many thanks for the book notice! I've been looking for something like this since registering for Theory II and Composition I next Fall semester. I have just ordered a copy in hopes that it may help save what little reputation I have :D as the Music Department's only resident "special" (read geezer) senior citizen saxophone student.
