Is there any issue with NOS reeds as are often available cheap on eBay?
Do reeds have shelf life?

Reeds, AFAIK, have no 'shelf life' or 'freshness date'. I have some perfectly good vandoren reeds from the late 70s--that is perfectly good if I still played on 3 1/2 and 4 reeds.;)
