Ok, I have a meyer 5 That looks like it needs a refacing and possibly the rails evened out, I'm not to sure about these things but I can sure say that its pretty hard to play... now should I have the work done or just buy another? the mouthpiece is like 70 dollars, how much should it be for the work on it? Thanks,
Manuel

Hello,
I would advise to get it refaced. Buying another 10 Meyers might give you one that is a player, or not even.
Modern Meyers are finished in a way to exagerate all sorts of problems like stuffiness and slow responce, reed warping, uneven rails, thick tip rails, uneven facings etc etc. it goes on.
For refacing, personally, I ask $50 to do a rubber piece at the moment and especially a Meyer. Mojobari (Keith) has a good reputation as well.
I would advise to stay away from the cheapie jobs. I have seen some pretty nasty work recently that was done by one of the supposed to be 'BETTER' craftsman out there.
Best regards
JG
