Does anyone know what manufacture makes the baritone saxophonist, Hamiet Bluiett, who now goes by Bluiett, neck strap? One of the Cd covers shows what appears to be an all leather strap with buckle in order to adjust and a sheepskin pad at the neck. Maybe a custom made piece. Thanks

Wow I'll have to take a look at that. I have a bass guitar strap I bought years ago, hand-made, leather with a big cushy sheepskin shoulder pad and buckle to adjust. A few months ago I took it off my bass and put a clip on the end of the straps and have been using it "sling"-style. Much more presentable than my harness but still quite comfortable.

Mark_M, I'm not one to pay much attention to Guitar gear, only the sound. I looked around and all though this maybe a no brainer to most. I found http://www.eldoradostraps.com/products2.htm . The 1" strap with a 3" wide shoulder or in this case neck pad is the one I'm looking at. The sheepskin pad should work really cool. Next just gotta figure the length i.e. belt to be long enough to go around. I've been working on a system but if you know about patents...... Laters,

Those look much like what I've got, maybe bit more polished... Should work great, I might even buy one to replace the strap I stole from my bass:) I don't know if you're interested in a sling style strap, but I just put a sturdy keyring through the holes at each end, used that to attach my hook of choice. I think I may have needed to add a couple of holes to get the length adjustment right.

Was super easy, and I was amazed that it works so well. This was for my The Martin bari. I had previously tried it with a cheap, nylon web guitar strap, and it was horrible.

Mark_M, I went to a guitar store (foreign territory) yesterday afternoon and looked at the Legacy straps. The ones I looked at are the same style as the ones I pointed out from Eldorado but not of the same quaility and no sheepskin. The key ring on the end will work but I would think it will wear through to fast. The guy from Eldorado called me back last night and is really interested in customizing a strap like the one shown. By taking one strap long enough, with the punched hole end in one hand go down through the hole in the hook, up through the neck pad, back down to the buckle and your done, eliminating a need to put key ring or brass grommet. Wel'la Baritone 8) sax strap and good looking too. As far as comfort goes, just use it as a sling if you don't like it around you neck.

I generally practice with my harness, but honestly there are a number of performance situations that I just can't deal with the visual aspect, and/or I need a bit more mobility. So I keep the harness at home, and my sling in the case.

Yeah I think that's a cool idea. Or even just under a jacket. Most of the time I'm less dressed than that.

I find the sling pretty comfy though, good enough... if it became a real problem I'd definitely go back to a harness.
