Lately my preferred Java 3 alto reeds were giving me grief; either not working well at all or dying quickly. Spending more time in balancing them helps to some degree. I discovered some other reeds I have are playing much better. But they are Glotin Groove reeds....now discontinued! Argh.

Oh, yeah. I hate it a lot when I can't find a reed wich has the right sound.
E.g. I'm searching at the moment for a reed wich is sounding classical - warm, in every pitch the same, soft - and is not too hard. But every reed is different. (Hemke) Arrrhhg.
In fact I search only because of the concert that will be in a few days, normally it doesn't interest me very much how the sound of a reed is.
