Im Considering a Berg 3 (darker) with a The Martin Tenor....any thoughts...never had the opportunity to play the combo. Is this an insane gesture or a good idea? What would one expect?

Sigmund, I have a 60's fat body Berg 110/2 that sounds pretty damn good on The Martin Tenor. I still prefer my Morgans (L, EL). With the wrong reeds the Berg can get a little shrill. If you're talking about the modern Bergs, try every one out, they're not very consistent.

It probably depends on what setting you want to use it for. I played a 130 over 0 Berg on my The Martin for awhile with good results. Anything darker and I got lost in the band mix. Ponzols and Guardalas work well also with the basically dark The Martin. K

I used a HR Berg with a 3 chamber which was opened a bit more than a 3! It was a bit too heavy/dark sounding on my The Martin tenor so I switched to a metal Lawton. Don't have the Berg anymore, sorry!

I got one , a 3 and I must say I rather like it. Very different mouthpiece. I dont know that it will become my primary mps but its nice to have around for variety.
