Hi, I'm looking to try some new mouthpieces, and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on places which offer trial periods. I want to try out a piece, and be able to return it if I don't like it. Thanks for the suggestions.

I've gotten mouthpieces, on a trial basis, from Woodwind & Brasswind (www.wwbw.com), and I was pleased with their service. The catalog states up to 4 mouthpieces, & 25% down. There is a$3.50 fee for each returned mouthpiece.

Hi Chris04 - welcome to the forum!

As a fellow St. Louisian, might I suggest you could give SaxQuest a call (listed as the Saxophone Center in the yellow pages). Mark and crew are great guys and can help you pick out a MP. Give 'em a call and jes head over to the Shaw Neighborhood!

Otherwise - you can check around on the net - most dealers have return policies. Perhaps someone else has a store they'd recommend?

BTW - I have no association with SaxQuest!

Nice to see a neighbor on the site!

Yeah, it is nice to see a fellow St. Louisian on the forum. Thanks for the advice guys. BTW, the 25% down at WWBW is refundable, correct?

The 25% down at WWBW is refundable, except for the $3.50 fee for each returned mouthpiece. I got this info from their catalog, and you should confirm when you call to order.

I have used the WWBW trial policy for mouthpieces three times, and am about to use it again. It is just as advertised: Maximum of 4 at a time, 25% deposit, $3.50 charge on any returned (for cleaning), all fees refunded on returned items. They give you about three weeks before you have to return the pieces.

They have a similar plans for instruments, although I don't know the details.
