View Full Version : Better case for SDA Alto?

Since I have recently acquired an SDA alto, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a new case that would give the horn a tight fit. I have the original treypack case that it came in, which is in good condition, but is a bit cumbersome to carry. My main concern is protection. The horn fits in the case loosely and the bell hits the hard sides of the case that is only covered in velour and is not padded. Would the SDA fit fine in a Pro-Tec case, SKB or the like? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Matt

I rehabed an old case with new batting and fabric. It took me about four hours. You might want to try a Pro-tec. According to them the rectangular cases are meant for vintage horns and the contour for smaller bell models. I have a small bell Aristocrat alto in a contour and have a 400 THC tenor in the rectangular. I prefer the rectangular cases as they have more internal storage.

I have my SDA Alto in a contoured pro-tec, it fits great and is a great case. I keep my dynaction tenor in a regular shape protec and have tons of room in there. Either way they seem to work great with my Buffets.

My Dynaction and my S1 ride around in a Hiscox Pro. Perfect fit. Best case there is.
