Does anyone have any experience of different necks on their Yanagisawa tenors? I have a T900 and am thinking of trying the underslung copper neck.

I am almost positive that I heard Greg Osby plays a A992 with a sterling silver yani neck (like from the A9937 etc..).
Although that info is totally useless to you despite the fact that 'hey I'm not the only one maybe I'll try it' factor, but really I'd say you get your hands on a bronze underslung neck and see what it does for you. Take a tape recorder with plenty of sounds you got at home, then record something in the same room as you're going to play with the new neck as well.

I also have a T900 and recently tried (along with my sax teacher) a number of necks. What you end up with depends on what sound you are after. I like a open fairly bright sound so I finally got the gold plated brass neck from Yanagisawa (#100) and are very happy with this. The new neck makes it easier to get good low and high tones, something very nice for a beginner like myself (less then a year).

I played my T990 tenor for six years with the original neck. Few months ago I purchased a Yanagisawa gold-plated bronze neck. It really fattens up the sound and makes my tenor (even more) easier to play. I highly recommend that neck!

I also tested a solid silver neck. It was also _very_ good. First I couldn't decide which one to take.. both were so good but after a moment I decided to purchase the bronze one (much more cheaper).
