Saliva is dripping out of the back end where the MP and reed meet I've just recently noticed this happening. Is this normal? If saliva can get through then can't air?

Well...yuck<G>. Anyhow, try: a different reed, try to keep your mouth
a little less wet; take a bit more mouthpiece into your mouth; look at
your embouchure pressure. Some of these things can be at work at
the same time. A loose embouchure along with too much saliva can
cause what you're experiencing. Take a look to see that your ligature
is properly positioned on the mouthpiece as well, and that the mouthpiece
is in good condition. I'm generally a "dry" player, but if my mouth
gets tired, I'll let a few bubbles or air slip past my lips<G>.

I would check ligature placement and condition. The ligature should hold the flat reed against the table. If the ligature is loose or the reed badly warped, what you describe may happen, or if your mouthpiece table is warped. If you cn, try a different reed, mouthpiece and/or ligature and see if any of these things help.

Try drinking more water.
I was getting a lot of saliva also. So was my son. I asked his teacher about how to control this, and he suggested drinking more water. I tried this, and sure enough, I do not get nearly the moisture I used to.
It may not work for you, but it did for me.
