I am using Yamaha YAS-62 MK2 with selmer C* mouthpiece. I am using vandorean V16 no.3 reeds which feel the sound is dead in practising.
I want to try new reeds which are not very expensive but good for practice.
Any recommendation of the reeds?
Thank you for your help.

Try dropping down to a 2-1/2 Rico or Vandoren Standard, and make sure you have the tip of the reed aligned properly with the tip of the mpc. I do it so that I can barely see the tip of the mpc over the reed tip when looking at it straight on. Others may have different suggestions/ideas.

It's easier to get more expression with a wider tip openning. The C* is quite narrow; about .70 Yes, you could get more expression with a softer reed, but it probably would close up on your higher notes. There are some decent low priced mouthpieces (Hite premeire, Morgan Protone) with larger openings; .90

Thank you very much!
I will try Vandoren Standard 2.5 first!
