Are there any US dealers?

If not, what is the cheapest, best overseas dealer (including actual price and shipping)?

Thanks

For overseas, check the Saxofoonwinkel...I have gotten several cases from them at good prices and shipping from Holland is CHEAP!

If you're in the US definately buy a Hiscox from Dave at junkdude. He has the best price AND service available. Straight ahead honest business.

I had one for a while. I got it from Saxofoonwinkel. Dont bother. I bought it because of the hype on this website, but I wasnt happy with it. For one thing, I found it to be WAY too cumbersome to carry around. I used to hit people on the bus, inadvertantly.

The materials its made of isnt that great either. A bit cheaply made. Its just not as great a case as guys here make it out to be. If you never travel, or always just put your horn in the car or van on the way to the gig, well maybe it would be OK, but any serious flying or city commuting---not the right case.

I think Walt Johnson or Phil Barone's new cases are much better value.

Should be noted that glu's comments are the FIRST I have ever seen in the negative about these cases.
I have used/seen/examined all the cases out there, and nothing comes close to the Hiscox, expecially for the price.
You can safely stand on a Hiscox with your horn in the case. I invite Glu to do that on his WJ with his prized horn inside 8)
Report here with the reuslts!

I was at a Berklee course this summer and a fellow from England wanted to trade me his Hiscox for my Berkeley on the spot. Draw your own conclusions.

Gary would you put your horn in a Berkeley and stand on it?

While I don't feel any particular need to stand on my case, I do have both Walt Johnson and Hiscox tenor cases; I use the WJ for my backup horn (which rarely leaves the house) and the Hiscox for my main horn. IMO, the Hiscox is the superior case in every way. YMMV.

just wonderin, are there different models of Hiscox cases? maybe you guys are talking about two different animals?

Hiscox pro-case is the one to get;the other model has no support inside the case.Selmer's_glu's comment is the first complaint I've heard of Hiscox cases.OK,maybe Hiscoxs are not the most hip-looking cases around but they are NOT cheaply made and are very protective.Personally,I prefer these qualities before the looks. This is a perfect case for heavy gigging.I use Hiscoxs on my main tenor and alto, never a single problem.I also have WJ tenor case but Hiscox is superior case;more protective, more support for the horn, more room for accessories, better strap, better price.WJ is not as tough as it may look and too expensive.

Gary would you put your horn in a Berkeley and stand on it? :lol:Nope. But I wouldn't stand on a Hiscox case either. I'm too cheap to risk breaking a $200+ case to find out. Or worse yet, messing my sax up.

But, see, I'm not saying anything negative about Hiscoxs, just that the Berkeleys, which I don't believe many on this forum use, are any lesser a case. If there were a bunch of people here who were really familiar with both cases and had horror stories from the Berkeleys I'd sure listen. But there are not and I believe most positive comments about the Hiscoxs are in relation to ProTecs, BAMs, Johnsons and others most available to Americans.
