I bought few weeks ago Selmer Soloist E mouthpiece for my alto. First everything was fine but now I have problems with tone and I can`t play higher and lower notes(specially lower ones). I just borrowed my mouthpiece to one friend who is also a saxophone player and she had same problems. She told that when she first tried my Soloist(It was quite new then) it was very good and she wanted same mouthpiece. But now she said she can`t play higher notes and it`s very hard to play. Every time when I start practicing I feel something is wrong. It`s very hard to blow the horn and tone is gone bad. Can anyone help please!!!!I have serious problem. Don`t know what to do!!!

This might sound like a stupid question, but did you drop it or do anything to it that would change the tip, rails, or table? Check to see if it still seals by placing your hand over the back of the mouthpiece and sucking in on the reed. It should create suction and "pop" when you take your mouth off. If it doesn't do this(try it with a few different reeds), it may have warped in some way. You might want to take it to a good mouthpiece refacer and see what they think.
This may sound like another stupid question, but could it be your reed strength? The "E" is a more open facing than what saxes are typically sold with. If you are not used to playing on open-face mouthpieces, you may need to drop your reed strength down a bit from what you were using before. Being more difficult to blow sounds like you might be using reeds that are too hard for your mouthpiece.

If you were using the same reed, it could've just died on you.
