'm looking at buying a 1960s vito alto. Were vito's from this era any good?

Man, I picked up another Vito/Beaugnier alto about a month ago--too cheap to pass up. Didn't even play it 'til today. Took a little tweaking, but this thing's in Mark VI territory, no joke. Sounds a lot like '68 Mark VI I had last year. Serial # is 196XX or so, and it's got a couple construction details I didn't recognize, like a straight rod body to bell brace--usually it's U-shaped. Dunno, but they really did something right on this one. By far the best sounding & playing of these horns I've had.

for kicks try your Vito with a Selmer neck and hear the difference in tone. i did that with my tenor and you hear something that is very Selmerish, i don't know about a Mark VI but it plays great.
