I've played one of these. The horn sounded nice, but I found it to be excessively bright without a real core to the sound. It also felt very cheap to hold; the keywork was clunky. It WAS the best of the Borgani's though, the rest of them were pretty bad.
Very purdy, though.

Interesting. The Borgs I've seen felt very solid with a "vintage" Conn like feel to them. Was it just out the box?

TJ,
These were on display at Roberto's. I was very surprised at them...I expected a whole lot better since I've heard some folks raving about them. Could have been a one-off, or had leaks, but my experience wasn't great. Like I said, it wasn't terrible. Just not my cup of tea. The Jubilee series was even less impressive...no ring to the sound, very hollow. I guess I'm spoiled by the vintage Conns and Martins. Hope that helped.

Saxaholic,
The ones on display at Roberto's may have been a bit out of adjustment. I'd try one on full tilt before giving up on Borganis.

I agree some of the altos can be on the bright side of saxlife. When I heard Sue Terry play one, the sound was bright and soaring. She made it work great though. Sue is a great player. OTOH, the sops and tenors are darker. I would think Roberto's doesn't do any set up work on the new stuff until it's paid for. Next time I'm up there, I'll skip all the Mark VIs that are always there and give a few Borg altos a try.

Wait! I am on a plane to Italy tomorrow. :)
I live near the factory and I have been there twice. Unfortunately they sold all the 130 series saxophones so it was not possible to play one. The good news is that their new vintage altos play very well with a solid core and a very good projection.
