Before the forum went down I posted a thread about the Cannonball alto I bought a couple of weeks ago. It's a long story and I won't repeat the whole thing but I'm just blown away by this horn. I've been playing for 35 years and am very particular about the kind of tone I'm after. I shopped around and played several different professional line horns, including a brand new Super Action 80. The Selmer was a super nice horn but it was out of my price range. I wouldn't dare say my Cannonball is better than the Selmer but it's mighty darn close. The day I went shopping I found a new horn that I wanted to buy but decided to wait a while and went into a rental shop to see about renting a horn for a couple of months. That's where I found this Cannonball Wizard that's just an absolute tone monster. I went back the next day and persuaded them to sell it to me. Never mind that it's a so-called "student/intermediate" line instrument. There's just something about it that grabbed me the first time I played it and, having played it about 2 hours a day for the past 2 weeks it just grows on me more every day. The Cannonball people say their goal is to produce a horn with that "can't put it down" feeling. Well, in this case at least, they've succeeded. Can't say enough about the good folks at Cannonball Musical Instruments. A great horn for a very reasonable price.
