View Full Version : fixed Yamaha 62
Somewhere I saw a reference to a "fixed" Yamaha 62 straight soprano. Can some elaborate what was fixed and when? I bought mine 20 years ago from a music store that was going out of business. It plays ok except tuning C#3 and above is pretty darn difficult. Up to about G2, tuning seems easier than my Selmer alto and tenor. I don't play much sop otherwise I'd probably look into the Yanagisawa.

Maybe what was fixed was the type of neck, i.e.: a one piece horn instead of the kind with two interchangable necks?

Years ago, Yamaha made a curved neck model 62 soprano. Many folks call them fixed-neck to differentiate between other sopranos with interchangeable necks - straight and curved. The 62R had a single tube with a curve at the top. I had a straight-neck silver YSS62S (my daughter plays it now). DAVE
